No 2. News Gathering

Background

Haphazard car parking on the road not only has the potential to disturb other road users, but is also haram according to the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag). This is reflected in the series of cases of careless parking that have recently been found frequently in the community. The cause is none other than limited garages, so home owners choose the road or the front of their neighbor's house as a parking area.

Answers

1. Can you tell us about the issue of haphazard car parking in our city?

“haphazard car parking has become a significant concern in our city. It's not just an inconvenience; it's a safety hazard. People park their cars in no-parking zones, on sidewalks, and even in front of fire hydrants. This reckless parking is causing traffic congestion and creating obstacles for pedestrians.”

2. How does this affect the community on a day-to-day basis?

“Well, it's frustrating for everyone, especially during peak hours. Ambulances and fire trucks can't navigate through the narrow streets easily, which can be a matter of life and death in emergencies. Additionally, pedestrians are forced to walk on the roads, risking accidents. The lack of organized parking also contributes to a chaotic environment, and finding a spot to park legally is a challenge.”

3. What do you think are the main causes of this issue?

“One of the major reasons is the lack of proper parking infrastructure. There aren't enough designated parking spaces in the city, leading people to resort to haphazard parking. Additionally, some individuals simply disregard parking regulations, causing chaos for everyone else. Moreover, the growing number of vehicles in the city has exacerbated

this problem.”

4. in your opinion, what solutions could be implemented to address this issue effectively?

“Well, firstly, the city needs to invest in creating more designated parking lots and garages. Secondly, stricter enforcement of parking regulations is crucial. Imposing fines for illegal parking and towing away vehicles that obstruct traffic flow could serve as effective deterrents. Furthermore, promoting the use of public transportation and carpooling could reduce the number of vehicles on the road. Finally, raising awareness among the public about the importance of adhering to parking rules is essential.”

5. Do you believe that community engagement plays a role in resolving this issue?

“Absolutely. Community engagement is vital for creating a sense of responsibility among residents. Encouraging community members to report instances of haphazard parking and working together with local authorities to find solutions can make a significant difference. Organizing awareness campaigns and involving local businesses and organizations in promoting responsible parking practices can help foster a more cooperative and responsible community.”
